April 2012 . Draped Vines

“This looks like it could be the cover of an indie album.”

I’ve been teaching Mr. T photography. We’ve trekked many hills and streets in San Francisco. Along the way, we would stop, I would help him with how to read the light meter and how to set the aperture and shutter speeds. I’d make him stop at random and point out something ordinary and say “that’s a cool subject.” He’s getting better at framing and composition.

November 2011 . Sutro Baths

“Let’s do an urban hike. I know a great place in the city that makes you forget you’re in an urban environment.”

I love San Francisco. One of the reasons is that within the 7×7 square miles of this city, lies pockets of natural beauty. In the northeastern corner, lies the Presidio and the Sutro Baths and the Lands End hiking trails. The Sutro Baths are ruins from a bye-gone era of a time when people would flock to this public bath house.

April 2012 . Roast Chicken

I’m cooking. Wanna come up for dinner?

Most nights it’s difficult for Mr. T and I to get together mid-week. When we are able see each other, I like to surprise him with something ‘gourmet’. One night I casually invited him over “because I was making roast chicken and would probably have too much leftover.”

May 2011 . Cheesemonger

We all enjoyed a lovely description of Cutting for Stone by Cindy, and a brief summary of the first few pages of Stumbling on Happiness (which nobody ended of being able to finish!)

My first exposure to a book club was last year. The book Cheesemonger: A Life on the Wedge, enticed me to accept my friend’s invitation to join her book club. I scrambled to finish this book chronicling Gordon Edgar’s experience with cheese and Rainbow Grocery, a local San Francisco grocery co-op. I scrambled to finish the book in time for our meet up, but alas, I only made it three-fourths through. When I arrived to the gathering, I was greeted by a beautiful spread of cheese ranging from classic gouda to crumbly goat’s milk cheese. Needless to say, from that moment on, I found my new motivation to read.

January 2012 . Plow

So what’s new with you?

We get together every quarter for brunch. It’s the perfect interval to stay in touch with friends. This quarter we chose to eat at Plow, a charming restaurant in Portrero Hill. I was so busy chatting up a storm and gobbling down my meal, that I forgot to take a photo. None the less, the french toast was amazing and will be back for more.
