“What’s good here?”

Yesterday was an end of an era of sorts. I felt like it was an end to one of my many chapters that I call life. I am still not sure how to process it, but know that when one door closes, another opens. Also, you should celebrate these changes with you’re loved ones. Celebrate—I did—with a glass of white sangria at a local favorite, Nopalito. Have a good weekend!

“I listen to whether or not you are aware.”

It’s a simple phrase. One that most don’t think of. An ability that I have come to realize of myself is that I’m very much aware of myself and of others. This sounds simple, but really, goes much deeper than a lot of people tend to acknowledge. I am aware of my short comings and my strengths. I act accordingly to enhance the parts of myself that are wonderful and great, and actively acknowledge and work on areas that need help. It’s a constant dialogue that I have with myself. Step away, evaluate, and commit to a course of action. Sometimes when the world feels like it’s whirling around at top speed, a trip to the neighborhood coffee shop helps bring clarity. ♥

January 2012 . Plow

So what’s new with you?

We get together every quarter for brunch. It’s the perfect interval to stay in touch with friends. This quarter we chose to eat at Plow, a charming restaurant in Portrero Hill. I was so busy chatting up a storm and gobbling down my meal, that I forgot to take a photo. None the less, the french toast was amazing and will be back for more.

a wine and food affair

“What was your favorite part?”

Is it overcast and rainy for you today? It is for me. San Francisco’s Autumn summer has come and gone and now it seems the wet rainy season is here for a spell. It’s pretty wet outside, much like how it was last weekend when I spent it up in Sonoma County for the 13th Annual A Wine & Food Affair. Even though we were all hoping for some beautiful wine country weather, we still had a grand time sipping wines and nibbling on succulent snacks–at one point we were in one of the winery’s trees harvesting our own collection of figs and guava (which was my favorite part of the weekend). Yes, it was that kind of wonderful weekend. Of course it also doesn’t hurt to stay in a rustic tree house-style cottage with a sky light window that looks out onto the above trees. What a sight to see in the morning. I hope that all of you had a great weekend and will have another. Happy Friday!

dynamo donuts

October 2011 . Dynamo Donuts

“What should I get?”

Once upon a time, I was introduced to the intriguing Dynamo Donuts.  Savory and Sweet–I salivated over each donut–packed with unusual flavor combinations. These donuts stayed on my brain for several months, until finally, I had a chance to reunite with them at their home camp in Portrero Hill.
